If you believe you are giving your best effort, that becomes your reality. And vice versa.

The same is true for anything you experience.

In a conversation with friends the other day, we talked about our most recent doctor visits. Whether or not our doctor was physically touching us during a check-up.

What was pointed out is that, in fact, a well-trained doctor can come to a diagnosis through the process of asking the right questions, and they don’t actually need to touch a patient in the process.

But many of us, as patients, have an expectation that if our doctor does not take the time to physically exam us, by touching us in one way or another during our visit, we feel like we have not had a thorough check-up.

Further proof that our mind will believe whatever it is that we tell it, whether it is the truth or not.

And what we perceive to be true then becomes our reality, whether it is actually the truth or not.

At Heirloom, we talk a lot about the power of the mind and the role it plays in our pursuit of betterment.

Are you berating yourself for not eating the perfect diet, or are you congratulating yourself at the end of the day for making better bad decisions than the day before?

Are you disappointed after a workout because you wish you could have gone faster or heavier, or are you taking a second to have pride in your effort and remember you are making the hard choices to get where you want to go?

These small moments of thought matter. They add up and build on each other and literally create our reality.

Be patient and gentle and gracious with yourself. Give yourself credit for trying. Remind yourself that you’re a badass for taking the small steps that will build up over time into a lifetime of good habits.

And if you truly are not giving your best effort, hold yourself accountable to a standard that you can be proud of. Not through negative self-talk, but through positive action that helps you become the best version of yourself.

And if you need help in this pursuit, give us a call. We would love the opportunity to help you succeed.
